Trim a local clip and download an MP4

FilmCraft Online is an independently hosted browser video editor based on open-source FilmCraft v0.6.0. It is useful for previewing one local video, shortening its timeline and downloading an H.264 MP4 with the original audio.

Free import, editing and MP4 download. No login or payment.

01 / Open

Pick one video from your computer, or use our generated test clip.

02 / Edit

Preview the sequence and shorten it. The full FilmCraft timeline is also available.

03 / Export

Encode an MP4, then check its picture and sound in the result player.

The self-hosted engine reads local files in the browser. It may cache imported media in browser storage (OPFS). Clear site data to remove these copies.

Encoding is single-threaded and may be slow. Long videos, large files, 4K, joining clips and full mobile editing are not verified.

Quick import requires a video this browser can decode. H.264 MP4 is the tested input.

The page is available in English and Chinese. The embedded editor is shown in English.

A real input-to-output example

Self-generated test video: 1280×720, 30 fps, H.264 video and a 440 Hz AAC tone. We trimmed 10 seconds to 5 seconds in FilmCraft v0.6.0 and checked the downloaded MP4 in an independent player and with ffprobe. Verified 12 October 2026. This demonstrates the tested short-clip workflow, not unlimited file size or length.

Which output format is used?

Quick export creates an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio. Landscape 1280×720 and portrait 360×640 short clips were exported and independently played on 12 October 2026. Other codecs are not a compatibility guarantee.

Does trimming keep the sound?

Yes, the tested H.264/AAC clips retained their source audio after trimming. Mono audio can become stereo. We do not generate speech or music. Check the picture and sound in your exported file; speech lip-sync and arbitrary audio formats have not been verified.

Are my videos sent to a server?

Your selected media is read and encoded in the browser, not uploaded to our servers. The upstream editor may cache local copies in browser storage. Clear this site’s browser data to remove those copies. The site loads editor assets over the network.

How large can a video be?

No site-wide size or duration limit has been verified. Start with a short clip; browser memory and software encoding can limit the session.

Can I use my phone or Safari?

Use desktop Chrome first. Safari 26.5.2 passed a short sample trim and MP4 export; its full input/error matrix is unverified. Touch editing is not verified. The page supports English and Chinese, while the embedded editor is shown in English.

What if export fails?

Keep the tab open and read the error. Your timeline stays available. Try a shorter clip after the active job finishes. Restarting discards the current session.

Is editing and downloading really free?

Yes. Importing, editing, exporting and downloading on this site are free. No account, card, subscription or credits are required. This is a local video editor, not a paid AI video-generation service.
